Each process model follows a particular life cycle in order to ensure success in process of software development.

This concern has become even more pressing as cost associated development continue to increase. Considerable studies are now directed at constructing ,evaluating and selecting better software cost estimation models and tools for specific software development projects. This essay gives an overview of cost estimation models and then discusses their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, the guidelines for selecting appropriate cost estimation models are given and a combination method is recommended.
